Prince George's Athletics Unveils New Design To www.pgccowls.com

LARGO, Md. – Prince George's Community College Athletics Department has unveiled a redesigned website through its website provider PrestoSports Inc. on Thursday. The new website features a new bigger story rotator, schedule, a media wall, student-athlete spotlight, information about the college and a rotating slider at the bottom of the site.

The top of the redesigned webpage features a bigger eye-catching story rotator and picture. The five most recent stories or videos will switch every five seconds automatically with the option of manually switching stories with the arrows above each headline.

A new design to the website will feature the header at the bottom of the story rotator rather than at the top. The same information will be included in this header, including teams, inside athletics, intramural and facilities categories. When scrolling over the teams' button fans can choose to go directly to a designated team roster, schedule or statistics page with one click. Also added in the new header is social media buttons to take fans directly to the Owl athletics Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages along with an edu button to a direct link to the Prince George's Community College main website. In addition, when fans scroll down the rest of the website, the header will move to the top of the page for convenience to take fans where they want to go at any point through their navigation of the site.

Next is a new scoreboard that gives fans the opportunity to see the most recent current schedule and results for athletics. Fans can scroll to see results by using the arrow to the left or see upcoming events by using the arrow to the right.

Another new feature is the media wall under the schedule. In the media wall, fans can see the latest Facebook posts, tweets from Twitter or videos on YouTube from the PGCCOWLS social media sites. Fans can look at all of the social media outputs at once or designate to view only one of the social media sites on the media wall.

The student-athlete spotlight is a holdover from the old design that will feature student-athletes that have been presented with awards or honors throughout the year. Sophomore women's basketball player Gina Seifert, who was named the National Junior College Athletic Conference Division III Women's Basketball Player on Nov. 21, is the current spotlight.

Next to the student-athlete spotlight is an area for prospective student-athletes and new users to learn about the college, including a recruiting questionnaire, admissions, and registration, student life, programs and courses, service and support, information on paying for college, information about the college and information about Prince George's Community College.

The other new feature is at the bottom of the site is informational sliders that fans can click on for information on Owl news like our 50th Anniversary Celebration, Alumni Appreciation Night, Athletic Forms, History, Hall of Fame, PGCC Front Row, Photo Gallery, Support Athletics and Videos. There will be pieces added or removed from this area depending on events happening with Prince George's athletics.

There are also some new features to the team pages as well. Last year, PrestoSports and pgccowls.com unveiled a new look to schedule page that featured logos of the opponents. With the new site, icons are now added to see previews, recaps, live stats, videos or photo galleries attached to that scheduled contest instead of the simple word links.

In addition, the student-athlete bio pages have also evolved over the last year. The fall and winter sports student-athletes now have a full biography on their page that includes participation at Prince George's along with high school and other information. Fans can also view each student-athlete's statistics that includes game-by-game, split statistics and career statistics while also catching up on any news stories that athlete is tagged in on the website. All of the spring sports will be converted to this format by the start of their respective seasons.
