LARGO, Md. – The Prince George's Community College athletic department unveiled the plan for the inaugural Athletics Hall of Fame at the Student-Athlete Alumni Day on Saturday. The nomination process opened on Monday and the submission deadline to be considered for the inaugural Hall of Fame is Friday, December 15.

To be considered for the Hall of Fame a nomination form and letters of recommendation are required while photographs and newspaper clippings are being accepted as supportive documents. The nomination form can be printed as a .pdf or filled out as a website questionnaire, but a letter of recommendation must be emailed or mailed to the athletic department for full consideration.

Student-Athlete, Coach, and Meritorious Service are the three categories an individual can be considered for the Hall of Fame. A student-athlete must have participated in intercollegiate athletics at Prince George's Community College for two seasons and must be five years removed from his/her time at the college. A coach must have coached at least five years and be five years removed from his/her time at the college while to be considered for Meritorious Service the nominee must have made significant contributions to the advancement of the athletic program or specific support for one or more sports.

Prince George's Community College's mission is to transform students' lives. For the last 50 years, those students have transformed intercollegiate athletics into a thriving and successful program. As we head into the next 50 years of intercollegiate athletics, we look to continue to transform lives with the inception of an Athletics Hall of Fame.

The concept of a Hall of Fame comes from the desire to; 1) preserve the history of athletics at Prince George's Community College; 2) identify and recognize the accomplishments and contributions of individuals and teams; 3) promote the heritage of intercollegiate athletics at Prince George's Community; 4) continue celebration of the "Past, Present and Future."

The undertaking will record the 50-year rich history of Prince George's Community College athletics as well as identify and recognize the outstanding teams, players, coaches, athletic administrators and persons who have made significant contributions to Prince George's athletics. In addition, these recognitions are for the purpose of honoring and perpetuating the individuals who have excelled and provide our students with examples of what to dream and aspire to be.

The inaugural Prince George's Hall of Fame Dinner And Ceremony will be held Monday, April 23 in the Community Rooms in the Largo Student Center. For more information, please visit the Prince George's Hall of Fame page
