The Prince George's Community College baseball team visited North East, MD over the weekend to take on Cecil College for a Region 20 divisional doubleheader. The Owls would drop game one, 17-7 in 6 innings before being shutout 13-0 in game two.
Prince George's got on the board first in game one when Nick Manning singled through the left side to send Daryl Nicholas home. Cecil wasted little time as they put together 5 runs aided by an error from the Owls in the bottom frame to regain control. Cecil tacked on another run in the second before Prince George's added their second run in the fourth inning on a Nicholas RBI up the middle. The Owls managed to score 5 total runs in the final two innings, but Cecil was able to answer with three runs in the fourth before adding 4 runs in each of the final two innings to take a 10-run lead and end the first contest early, 17-7. The Owls bats woke up and were ready for the challenge in game one, but pitching struggles continued as they racked up 15 walks on the day. Freshman Christian Moyer picked up the loss on the mound.
Prince George's was unable to get anything going offensively in game two as the Seahawks allowed just one hit on the day and the Owls were blanked, 13-0.
Coach Williams and his team are back in Largo for their next doubleheader looking to bounce back on Tuesday, April 1st against Allegany College of Maryland. The first pitch is scheduled for 12 noon.
