Westmoreland County CC
The Prince George's Community College baseball team picked up their first win of the 2025 season over the weekend, splitting their doubleheader against visiting Westmoreland County Community College on Sunday. The Owls held off a late push from the Wolfpack to take game one, 15-12, before falling in 6 innings in game two, 14-2.
Westmoreland started off hot, scoring 5 runs in the first two innings when Prince George's opened up with 6 in the bottom of the second which included Enzo Angello hitting his first collegiate homerun to score three and put the Owls in front, 6-5. Westmoreland jumped back on top in the third to go up 7-6 before the Owls Daryl Nicholas picked up a RBI in the third to tie the score at 7.
Prince George's capitalized on poor defensive play from Westmoreland in the 4th as they added 8 runs to take control, 15-7. The Wolfpack then put together 5 runs in their final two frames but before the Owls retired their final batter to earn the 15-12 win. Sophomore Anthony Williams earned the win on the mound for Prince George's while Maddox German entered in the seventh to earn a save.
Bryan Robinette started game two for Prince George's who answered Westmoreland's 3-run opening inning with two runs themselves, but went cold the rest of the way. The Wolfpack stayed hot as they scored in each inning while holding the Owls scoreless the remainder of the game as they ended the day early, 14-2 in 6 innings.
Prince George's will look to build on their first win when they travel to Anne Arundel Community College for a divisional doubleheader on Sunday, March 16th beginning at noon.
