Through Owl Eyes: 2016-17 Women's Basketball Recap

We continue our look back at the 2016-17 season for Prince George's Community College with the series "Through Owl Eyes." Today, we look at the season of the Owls women's basketball team. After we reveal all of the recaps fans will have the opportunity to vote for the Top Moment for Prince George's Athletics for 2016-17.

Women's Basketball Starting Five
- After losing its first three games, Prince George's won five of its next eight contests and 10 of the next 17 games.
Asisha Greene scored 20 points in a 69-53 win against Hostos on November 13 for the squad's first win of the season. Greene gave the Owls a glimpse of what was to come after she finished the season with 15 20-point performances.
- Behind 25 points from Greene, the squad defeated Butler County 62-57 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Region XX Semifinals on February 25 to advance to the finals for the third time in four years.
- Greene was named an NJCAA Division III Third Team All-American.
Gina Seifert was named to the NJCAA Division III All-Academic first team and her sister Lisa was selected to the second team.

 Women's Basketball By The Stats
- Prince George's had a player reach double figures in points 67 times this season including 18 games with 20 points or more. The Owls also had 36 double-figure rebound performances.
- Prince George's averaged 78.4 points per game when it won 10 of 17 games.
- The Owls scored 80 points or more four times in that stretch including 103 points against Pennsylvania Highlands on November 29.
- Greene paced the team with 21.4 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. The squad was 8-7 when Greene registered 20 points in a game this season.
Gina Seifert fueled the team with 9.4 rebounds per game and ranked second with 10.4 points per game. Seifert led the team with 15 double-figure rebound games including grabbing 10 boards in 12 of her last 15 contests.

- Prince George's scores 103 points against Pennsylvania Highlands on November 29
- The Owls advance to the NJCAA Division III Region XX championship game for the third time in the last four years
- Greene named to NJCAA Division III Third Team All-American
