Gina And Lisa Seifert And Calvin Tabetah Named To NJCAA All-Academic Team
LARGO, Md. - Prince George's Community College student-athletes Gina Seifert (Owings, Md.), Lisa Seifert (Owings, Md.) and Calvin Tabetah (Bowie, Md.) have been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Academic team.
Gina Seifert, a member of the Owls women's basketball team, was selected to the NJCAA All-Academic first team and is majoring in general studies. On the court, she averaged 11.0 points and 9.4 rebounds per game in 25 contests and was selected to the NJCAA Division III Region XX All-Tournament team. The freshman recorded 17 double-figure performances in points including a career-best 20 points against Brookdale on Jan. 28. The Owings, Md., native also had 15 contests with 10 or more rebounds including a career-high 19 boards at CCBC Catonsville on Feb. 3. She was also named the 2017 Prince George's Athletics Department Female Student-Athlete of the Year.
Lisa Seifert, a member of the Prince George's women's basketball team, received NJCAA All-Academic second team honors and is majoring in elementary/special education. The sophomore averaged 1.7 points and 1.4 rebounds per game in 25 games this season. In her freshman campaign, she posted two double-figure performances including a career-high 14 points against Allegany College of Maryland on Jan. 6, 2016. She was named the Prince George's Athletics Department Female Student-Athlete of the Year in 2016.
Tabetah, a member of the Owls men's soccer team, earned NJCAA All-Academic third team recognition and is majoring in biology. He posted four goals and one assist for nine points in 19 games including 15 starts on the soccer pitch. Tabetah posted the decisive goal along with an assist against Cecil on Sept. 9 and against Harford on Oct. 18. The freshman posted a tally in both games in the NJCAA Division III Championship against Camden on Nov. 10 and Bristol on Nov. 11.
Student-athletes that boast a 4.00 grade-point average are selected to the NJCAA All-Academic first team while a grade-point average between 3.80-3.99 place student-athletes on the second team and a 3.60-3.79 grade-point average give student-athletes third-team recognition.
