Alex Morales Inks NBA Contract With Orlando Magic
Former Prince George's Community College standout Alex Morales continues to excel on the court at every level, signing a deal with the NBA's Orlando Magic on August 15th after an impressive Summer League showing with the Golden State Warriors.
Alex's two years as a member of the Owls basketball team saw the program earn a Region 20 championship during the 2018-19 season as well as its first Maryland JUCO championship in 36 years in 2016-17. A two-time NJCAA All-American, Alex was also selected as the conference tournament MVP during his freshman year and was named the Player of the Year in his final season with the Owls.
After graduating from Prince George's in 2019, the New Jersey native furthered his education and playing career at Wagner College, a Division I program located in Staten Island, New York. Morales continued to dominate as a member of the Seahawks as he was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons, adding Defensive Player of the Year honors to his resume during his final stint with the Seahawks.
Shortly after the Warriors won the 2022 Finals Morales got the opportunity to play for Golden State in the NBA Summer League where he appeared in 5 games for the reigning world champions. Averaging 5.0 PPG in 13.5 minutes per game, Alex was able to showcase his talents to NBA teams which led to his signing of an Exhibit 10 deal with the Orlando Magic.
An exhibit 10 contract is a one-year deal and gives an NBA franchise the flexibility to convert it into a two-way deal, but the team must ensure that it happens before the commencement of the regular season.
