Injury-Depleted Roster Not Enough For Owls On The Road At Harford

This past weekend the Prince George's Community College Men's soccer team traveled to Bel Air, MD to take on the Harford Community College Fighting Owls. Prince George's would come up short as they suffered a harsh 9-0 loss. The Owls fell to 2-9, including 1-8 in Maryland JUCO competition.

The first half appeared evenly matched to begin despite multiple attempts from Harford, as they tried to notch their 8th straight win while Prince George's was searching for their first win in nearly two weeks. The contest remained scoreless as plenty of penalties and missed opportunities by either team kept things knotted up at zero before the Fighting Owls capitalized in the 21st minute to take a 1-0 lead. Prince George's struggled to answer back with a goal of their own as Harford struck again, just 9 minutes later. The Owls were able to put together an attack near the end of the half as Victor Oluwafolayemi headed the ball on frame before Harford's keeper made the save. Harford quickly responded with another goal right before the half to send Prince George's into halftime trailing 3-0.

Troubles continued for Prince George's as Harford continued to strike offensively, keeping goalkeeper Axel Vargas busy as the Fighting Owls continued to grow their lead. Penalties mounted for both squads as Prince George's attempted to claw their way back into the game but the Owls depleted roster make it difficult to mount a comeback. Vargas would finish the day with 10 saves.

The Prince George's Community College Men's Soccer team will have a week off from competition to rest and prepare for their next match, the Owls longest break between competition this season, before taking on Allegany College of Maryland. The Owls and Allegany's Trojans both enter with 1 win in conference play, both of which came against Chesapeake College. Game time is set for 12:00pm this Saturday, October 16th.
