Men’s Soccer Travels to Westmoreland for Divisional Matchup

The Prince George's Community College men's soccer team will travel to Youngwood, Pennsylvania on Saturday, September 25^th to take on Westmoreland Community College for their first NJCAA Division III Region 20 matchup of the season. The Owls are chasing their first win of the year after an 0-4 start to the season has left Prince George's still searching for their team's identity as they head into the last week of September.

Westmoreland has experienced a slow start to the 2021 season as well, with their one and only match of the year ending in an 8-1 loss to Penn-State Beaver on September 7^th before their next several scheduled games were either postponed or cancelled.  

Prince George's interim head coach Cedric Mansaray believes that despite his team's record the Owls are in a good position to win against the Wolfpack now that they've been able to compete in more games and build on their team chemistry and communication while Mansaray works to build a successful game plan. Although Mansaray has had a slow start to his head coaching campaign for the Owls, the door remains open for his team with ten regular season games remaining on the schedule, three of which are Division III Region 20 matchups which will help decide who competes for the Region championship hosted by Prince George's in late October.

Despite being in the same region and division, the two teams have rarely faced one another in recent years. The two most recently scheduled matchups between the Owls and the Wolfpack which were both cancelled, occurred in 2019 and 2014. The last meeting which resulted in a completed game took place eight years ago in 2013 in Largo, MD on Saturday, September 28^th when the Owls routed Westmoreland, 5-0.  

The Owls will look to tie Anne Arundel Community College atop the division standings by first taking down Westmoreland tomorrow in Western Pennsylvania. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 pm.
