Prince George’s to Host College of Southern Maryland

Prince George's men's soccer team returns to the pitch tomorrow, Thursday, September 16th to host The College of Southern Maryland in Largo as Prince George's continues to search for their first win of the year. Prince George's enters the contest with an 0-3 record after losing to Brookdale Community College 6-3 this past Sunday. The Hawks were able to get back to .500 as they defeated Allegany College of Maryland last Thursday, September 9th to improve to 2-2 on the year.

The Owls slow start to the season has been disappointing for interim head coach Cedric Mansaray who was an assistant for Prince George's during the 2018 and 2019 seasons during which the Owls posted a winning record in both years. Mansaray believes the Owls can turn things around with eleven games still remaining on the schedule, beginning with College of Southern Maryland on Thursday.

The Owls offense has been able to average nearly two goals per game but have been surrendering an average of almost five as their defense has not been able to consistently stop opposing attacks. Mansaray may soon have to adjust his formation to determine the best style of play as his team looks to turn things around.

A bright spot for the Owls has been the combination of sophomore Miguel Rosales (Fairmont Heights, MD) and freshman Victor Oluwafolayemi (Hyattsville, MD) on the offensive side of the ball. The two forwards have accounted for all five of the Owls goals scored on the season, with Oluwafayemi leading the way with 3, 2 of which came against Brookdale in the Owls previous matchup.

Look for Prince George's to continue to lean on the two attackers as they attempt to minimize and correct their defensive mistakes starting with the Hawks on Thursday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 PM.
