  • Prince George's and Montgomery renew its county line rivalry on Wednesday.

  • Tunde Scrivner scored 20 points off the bench to help Prince George's Community College clinch the No. 1 seed in the NJCAA Region XX Division III Basketball Tournament in February with a 72-56 win against Anne Arundel Community College in men's basketball action on Friday. 
  • Scrivner posted 13 of his team-high 20 points in the second half while also adding five rebounds, four assists and four steals. The freshman notched his third 20-point game of his career and the first since he scored 26 against Hagerstown Community College on November 28. All three of 20+ games have come at Novak Field House. He has posted double figures in 16 of his 17 games this season. In addition, he hauled in at least five boards for the seventh time this year. Scrivner ranks second on the team with 16.5 points per game.
  • Alex Morales tallied 14 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists and five steals. It marks the seventh time in 2018-19 Morales has posted a double-double and dished out at least seven assists. It is also the sixth time this season he has recorded five assists and five steals in a game. Morales has registered double figures in all 17 games this season and 35 times in his career. The sophomore has recorded a double-double in six-straight tilts and eight of his last 11 matches. Morales is averaging 19.3 points, 11.4 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game.
  • Dexter Turner registered nine points, seven assists, four steals and three rebounds while Darren Rivers posted six points and eight of his nine boards in the final frame. Turner ranks fourth in Division III with 129 assists.
  • With the game tied at 11, Prince George's went on a 10-2 run to take the lead for good. Morales handed the Largo team the lead for good on a basket in the paint with 10:50 remaining in the first half and the sophomore powered the surge with six points.
THE ROAD AHEAD
 
  • The Owls concludes its two-game homestand against CCBC Catonsville on Friday.
  • The Largo team heads to Cecil College on January 30.
  • Prince George's will now have a two-game homestand to end the regular season with Chesapeake College on February 1 and Garrett College on February 2.
  • Hagerstown will host the Maryland JUCO Tournament this year.
  • Prince George's will also host the region tournament in February.
