Track & Field Set To Compete In Mid-Atlantic JUCO Invitational

The Prince George’s Community College men’s and women’s track and field team will travel to Columbia, MD this Saturday, April 15th to compete in the Mid-Atlantic JUCO Invitational hosted by Howard Community College. Saturday will mark the third meet of the season for Prince George’s after opening the year at the Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational at The University of Lynchburg on March 25th. The Owls also participated in the Bison Classic hosted by Gallaudet University on April 8th.

For their performances at Lynchburg, Rashid Blackmon and Blessing Nwoke were both named Region 20 Players of the Month in their respective sports. On the men’s side, Blackmon qualified for nationals in three events at the Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational at the University of Lynchburg. He competed in and ran the 400m hurdles in 1:01:35. He clocked an 11.46 in the 100m and also contributed to strong legs on the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. On the women’s side Nwoke set new personal bests in multiple events at the Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational, finishing among the top 25 in a meet with over 30 programs, most of which were four-year programs.

Saturday’s meet at Howard will feature 18 teams participating from the Mid-Atlantic area primarily representing community college programs with the aim of showcasing the top two-year student athletes in the area.

First year head coach Adrion Webb will have his team participating in the following track events which begin at 10 AM on Saturday: M/W 4x100m Relay, M/W 100m dash Prelims, M/W 100m dash finals, M/W 400m dash, M/W 800m run, M/W 400mh, M/W 200m dash, and M/W 4x400m relay. Webb also has his team participating in the following field events which begin at 9 AM: M/W long jump, M/W triple jump, M/W high jump, M/W hammer, M/W hammer, M/W shot put, and M/W javelin.

Saturday’s action will have a live stream provided by Howard Community College and live timing coverage by M&D Timing.
