Owls Softball Sweeps Allegany College

Wednesday, April 3 the Owls softball team swept the Trojans of Allegany College of Maryland. The score for both games was 6-5 in favor of the Owls.

Shannon Peters picked up the win in both games giving up 10 runs in 14 innings. Peters also notched two hits on the day, a single and double with 4 RBIs.  The Owls were led offensively by sophomores, Kerri Moore and Angela Figueroa. Moore went 3-5 on the day with two doubles and a triple. Moore leads the team in batting average, hitting .394 on the year with 12 extra base hits. Leadoff batter, Figueroa, went 3-4 with 4 walks and 5 of the team's runs.

Freshman first baseman, Dani Ray, shortstop, Straneika Proctor, and left fielder, Sierra Wright also had big days at the plate going 4-6, 4-8, and 3-5 respectively and 6 RBIs collectively.

The Owls, still plagued by errors, were able to hold it together in several innings to keep the Allegany from taking the lead.

The two wins take the Owls to 5-18 overall record. They will take on the undefeated Chesapeake College Skipjacks on Saturday, April 6 at 12pm.
