2019 Prince George's Men's Soccer Set for Season Opener

2019 Prince George's Men's Soccer Set for Season Opener

The Prince George's Community College Owls are set to open their season today (Tuesday, August 27th) against conference opponent Allegany College of Maryland's Trojans. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in Cumberland, MD.

This begins the Owls first year under head coach Scott Villagran who had previously been with the team during the 2018 season as a volunteer coach. The Owls have three returning sophomores for the 2019 season who look to bring experience and leadership to improve upon their 9-7-1 record from a year ago which saw them reach the Region 20 Division III semifinals. Of those returning, sophomore Forward Chris Garcia will look to improve upon his 2018 season which included nine total points off of 3 goals and 3 assists throughout the year while starting 15 games.

The last time the two teams met was October 16th, 2018 when the Trojans traveled to Largo, Maryland to face Prince George's Community College. The Owls defeated the Trojans in dominant fashion by a score of 6-0.

The Owls will look to start the season off strong against Allegany before their home-opener on Thursday, August 29th against Northern Virginia Community College.
