Owls Baseball Captures No. 7 spot in preseason poll

Largo, Md. – After winning the Region XX DIII Tournament and advancing to the College World Series last season, Prince George's Community College will open the 2015 season as the nation's No. 7 team, according to the NJCAA Division III Pre-season Poll released on Sunday. The No. 7 ranking marks the first time in program history that the Owls will open the season stacked amongst the nation's top ranked teams.

The Owls advanced to the College World Series last year for the first time in the programs history. Although the team started slow last season, under Head Coach Buddy Foster, the team picked up momentum late in the season and knocked off top opponents in route to capturing the Region XX Championship.

Currently, the Owls are the only team from Region XX that are ranked. They also have key players from the championship team that have returned such as Jordan Wesley, Brady Barr, and Mario rivera. As well as they have bolstered their squad with top signings with hopes of returning to the College World Series for the 2015 season. Some of the top recruits that will represent the Owls program this season include Nick Rathke, Nikolaus Haber, Luis Reyes, John Bonanca, Dominic DeBlasie, Kevin Jones, Jeramey Hagstrom, Chase Hunt and Zakary Bray.

The Owls first home game will be on March 6, when they host a double header against Queensborough Community College. Game time is set for 1:00 PM and 3:00 Pm.
