Men's Soccer Set to Kick Off Season

Whether it is a player's first or second year, pre-season soccer for the men at Prince George's Community College is about getting physically and mentally prepared for the daunting schedule ahead. Within this time frame, players are given the opportunity to impress, shine and earn a roster spot based on their performance on the practice field and inter-squad scrimmages. This is all in an attempt to prepare the student athletes for the 20 regular season games, not including playoffs that they will face within the next two months.

However, unlike seasons of the past, this year's roster is filled with unlimited talent and desire. The players over the pass weeks have proven to be students of the game and have shown improvement on a daily basis. Their willingness to learn tied with their ability to work has a team has created much excitement around the training fields. Nonetheless, championships are not won in the pre-season and all the work done by the coaching staff and players will only be judged by their performance during the regular season and playoffs. With this in mind, everyone can hardly wait for the first whistle, which will signify the official start of the season.

Fans will be able to take their first look at the 2013 Prince George's Community College men's soccer team on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25 as the Owls open up this weekend hosting Tidewater Community College and Tompkins Cortland Community College, respectively.

The Owls sideline will be manned by head coach, Jim Bell, Assistant Coach and former All-American, Machel Millwood, and Taiye Akinmboni. All matches for the upcoming season will be free.
