Tough Loss for Men's Basketball

By MACHEL MILLWOOD

Largo, Md. – Men's basketball came up short in their home opener against Sandhills Community College on Saturday, November 08, 2014 by a score of 86-84. Although both teams played tough defense throughout the game, getting to the charity strike proved to be the difference. With this, Sandhills men were able to make some critical free throws to maintain their lead and escape with the victory.

However, with under 10 seconds remaining, the Owls Donell Diggs made a basket to cut the deficit to 1 point. After the Flyers men missed the last of two free throws, the Owls snatched the rebound but were unable to make the final shot of the game. Overall, it was a good performance by the team.  They showed their fighting spirits as they made multiple stops midway in the second half to make it a close encounter down the stretch.

This loss extends the Owls losing streak to 0-3 on the season. The team will try to earn their first regular season win on Wednesday, November 12, when they travel to play Baltimore City Community College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM
