Owls Defeat the Raptors

The Prince Georges Community College Men's basketball team has defeated the Montgomery College Raptors for their 9th consecutive win 82-62, they have moved up in the conference standings from 5th to 4th place.

Throughout this win the Owls never lost their momentum and steadily increased their lead.  In a fury to control their tempo, PG flew into the second half maintaining the lead through 2's, 3's and yes, even a 4 point play, getting their maximum lead to 30 points.

Once again, the team leaders were David Duncan, Tyler Logan, NieRonn Miles, and Gabriel McCray, with 63 of the 82 total points combined.  When talking with Jimmy Watkins, the Assistant Coach, after the game about the success of this seasons basketball team, he expressed, "Our boys worked really hard in the preseason and it's paying off now."  This is evident so far in the second half of the season.

Miles continues to do exceptionally well as the Owls point guard, having 15 of the 29 total assists throughout this game; he is also contributed in rebounds with a total of 10.  Duncan continues to show his athleticism under the basket, constantly fighting for the ball, picking up a total of 17 rebounds.  Logan consistently plays defense very aggressively, and picked up 5 of the teams 9 steals.

Each player has been contributing to this season in their own way, making it a very complete team; this is a contributing factor to their 9 consecutive wins.  They have found their groove, and hopefully will be taking it as far as possible with upcoming playoffs.

Please join us on Tuesday, February 12 at 7pm as the Owls host the opening round of the MD JUCO Tournament.
