Prince George's Track And Field Heads To Prestigous Penn Relays On Thursday And Friday

LARGO, Md. – The Prince George's Community College women's track and field team heads to the prestigious Penn Relays on Thursday and Friday.

Druex Collins (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson), Mary Foday (District Heights, Md./Central), Hannah White (Bowie, Md./Charles Herbert Flowers) and Ashley Wilson (White Plains, Md./Princess Anne) are scheduled to open the relays in the 4x100m relay heats on Thursday at 1:15 p.m. and then will run in the 4x400m relay heats at 6:25 p.m. The quartet is then slated to run in the 4x200m relay heats at 2 p.m.

If the Owls are one of the 18 fastest relays in an event they will move onto the finals. The 4x100m relay finals will take place on Friday, starting at 1 p.m. with the nine fastest teams competing in the Championship Invitational while the next nine fastest times qualify for the College Final at 1:05 p.m.

The Top-9 teams in the heats for the 4x200m heats will advance to the Championship Invitational on Saturday at 2:25 p.m.

The 4x400m relay finals start at 5:50 p.m. on Saturday with the nine fastest teams in the heats competing in the Championship Invitational before the next nine fastest participate in the College Final at 5:35 p.m.

Prince George's is one of three community colleges from the state of Maryland competing at Penn Relays, joining Hagerstown Community College and Howard Community College.

Now in its 123rd year, the Penn Relays is the oldest and largest track and field competition in the United States. The annual event is hosted by the University of Pennsylvania at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa. Franklin Field was opened the same year as the inaugural Penn Relays in 1895.
