Foday Wins 200m Dash At 2017 Delaware Classic To Lead Prince George's Track And Field

NEWARK, Del. – Mary Foday (District Heights, Md./Central) won the 200m dash to power the Prince George's Community College track and field team at the 2017 Delaware Classic on Saturday.

Foday posted a time of 25.62 in the 200m dash to win the event by 0.12 seconds against a sprinter from the University of Delaware.

On the men's side, the Owls had eight Top-10 finishes and were led by Ari Wilson's (Clinton, Md./Charles Herbert Flowers) third-place standing in the 400m dash (50.74). The 4x400m relay finished in second place (3:30.09).

Baladji Diakite (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo) placed fifth in the 400m dash (52.82) while Tommy Hunt III (Fort Washington, Md./Oxon Hill) posted a fifth-place standing in the 200m dash (25.06) and an eighth-place finish in the 400m dash (55.51). Christy-Morel Andjalepou (Washington, D.C./Cardozo Education Campus) finished sixth in the 800m run (2:03.92) and seventh in the 1500m run (4:17.63), and Edwin Brown III (Upper Marlboro, Md./Homeschooled) was seventh in the 800m run (2:07.88).

Along with Foday's first-place finish, Druex Collins (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson) placed 10th in the 200m dash (27.04) and 15th in the 400m dash (1:03.02) while Hannah White (Bowie, Md./Charles Herbert Flowers) finished 12th in the 200m dash (27.58) and 14th in the 400m dash (1:02.34).

The Prince George's men's team racked up 30 points to finish tied for fifth out of 11 teams while Foday gave the women 10 points to finish in seventh place.

The Owls return to action at the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., starting on Thursday.
