Prince George’s Tunde Scrivner Named NJCAA Division III Honorable Mention All-American

Sophomore guard Tunde Scrivner (Washington D.C./H.D. Woodson) was named an Honorable Mention All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), it was announced on Monday, April 6th.

Scrivner was one of only 20 NJCAA Division III men's basketball players across the country who were named to an All-American Team. The full list can be viewed here. Selections were made by the NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball Committee.

Scrivner has been a rock for the men's basketball program during his two years at Prince George's Community College (2018-20). Tunde entered his sophomore season as the focal point of the Owls offense and it didn't take too long for others to take notice. He was named the NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball Player of the Week during week 9 (January 13-19) after recording consecutive triple-doubles in back-to-back victories over Region XX opponents. He also helped Prince George's to regularly appear in the NJCAA Division III men's basketball weekly rankings which saw the Owls climb to as high as the #5 spot in the nation on the year.

Tunde's offensive tear would continue throughout the season which was culminated by a modest 17-point performance against Hagerstown Community College on February 17th during which he recorded his 1,000th career point. The Owls would finish the season as Region XX runners-up as he again earned Region XX All-Region First Team honors and was also named to the MD JUCO All-Conference First Team. Scrivner finished his sophomore season averaging 21.5 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, and 5.8 assists per game as he started in all 26 of the Owls contests.

Scrivner's most recent award comes shortly after he had announced his commitment to further his education and continue his playing career at Nyack College in New York City, New York.
