Prince George’s Baseball Travels To Virginia For Mid-Atlantic District Championship

Prince George's Community College baseball will make its return to Districts for the first time in 4 years when the Owls travel to take on Paul D. Camp Community College in Franklin, VA from May 19 - 20th to determine a Mid-Atlantic District Champion. The winner of the best-of-three series will then move on to the NJCAA Division III Baseball World Series in Greeneville, Tennessee from May 27 - May 31/June 1.

Prince George's will represent Region 20 after defeating Allegheny County in three games while Camp enters as Region 10 Champions themselves following their tournament which featured 5 programs. Camp entered their postseason as the number two seed and currently holds a 31-17 record.

Despite entering below .500 heading into the matchup, Owls head coach Jordan Martinez is confident in his team's ability to keep up in Districts following Prince George's Region win which avenged a sweep by Allegheny County earlier in the season.

Martinez and his squad are entering a similar situation facing Camp's Hurricanes, having been swept by the 'Canes earlier in the year on the road which was surrounded by travel and game delays due to weather. Now heading into warmer weather and coming off a tight series which the Owls found a way to come out victorious, the team will look to make history with an upset of Camp to punch their ticket to the World Series for the first time since the 2017 season.

Should the two programs split games on Friday, a winner-take-all game three will be held on Saturday to determine who earns a trip to Greeneville, TN. There is a $10 gate fee for games on Friday and a $5 fee on Saturday should the series stretch into a third game. A livestream will also be provided, courtesy of Paul D. Camp.
