To Comes Up Big For Prince George's In Sweep Of Cecil

NORTH EAST, Md. – Bay To (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) smacked the go-ahead two-run homer in the opener and then pitched a complete-game victory in the nightcap to propel Prince George's Community College to a sweep against Cecil College in Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) baseball action on Thursday. The Owls (7-9, 2-2 MD JUCO) took the opener 5-4 and then won the nightcap, 12-5.

To, who hit the go-ahead homer against Anne Arundel Community College on Tuesday, reclaimed the lead for Prince George's with a two-run shot in the fifth of the opener. The sophomore then took the mound in the second game and allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits with four strikeouts in a complete-game effort. To also went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI in the nightcap while finishing the afternoon 4-for-8 with three RBIs and four runs scored.

Steven Fondeur (Hollywood, Fla./South Broward) registered two hits, four RBIs and two runs scored while Dylan Irizarry (Statesboro, Ga./Statesboro) added two hits, three RBIs and a run scored in the two games.

In the opener, Prince George's grabbed the early lead and then the Owls responded after the Seahawks took an advantage to earn the victory.

After Cecil scored a run in the third and two in the fourth to grab a 3-2 lead, Prince George's took the lead for good in the fifth.

Fondeur singled and stole second and came around to score on To's third home run in three days to hand the Owls a 4-3 lead.

The Largo team added what proved to be the difference in the sixth. Naquan Holden (Brooklyn, N.Y./Perkiomen) walked, moved to second when Chase Perreault (Midland, Va./Liberty) was hit with the pitch and then touched home on a pair of passed balls to hand Prince George's a 5-3 lead.

The Seahawks scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to trim the margin to 5-4 and had the tying run in scoring position, but with the bases loaded and two outs. Dominic Marquez (Long Beach, Calif./Jordan) ended the game with a fly out to earn the three-inning save.

Prince George's jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second with two runs. Holden and Perrault walked before Sutton Young (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) loaded the bases with a single. Irizarry then was hit with the pitch to force home Holden with the game's first run. Fondeur plated Perreault on a sacrifice fly to cap the two-run inning.

Cecil then scored three runs over the next three innings to take the lead only to see the Owls big To smack his third homer of the season to give Prince George's the lead for good.

Abdul Mateen Bradley (Philadelphia, Pa./The Preparatory School) got the win after tossing the first four innings. Bradley danced out of a second and third no out jam in the first with a pair of strikeouts and a ground out.

The Owls continued its momentum into the second game to complete the sweep with a 12-5 victory.

Prince George's scored four runs in the first to grab the lead for good. Austin Adams walked and Tommy Petrisino Jr (Bayonne, N.J./St. Anthony's) singled to put runners at the corners before To plated Adams with an RBI single. After Bradley singled, Vinny Rotundo (New York, N.Y./Middletown) hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Petrosino and To and Bradley crossed the plate on Irizarry's at-bat for a four-run lead.

After the Seahawks scored twice in the bottom of the first, the Owls added answered with two runs in the third to restore the four-run margin. Bradley singled and rounded the bases to score on Irizarry's run-scoring single. Marquez, who walked in the frame, touched home when Fondeur reached on an error.

A five-run fifth for the Largo program increased the Owls lead to 11-2. Rotundo and Irizarry singled before O'Neal Torche (Jersey City, N.J./St. Anthony's) was hit with a pitch to load the bases. Fondeur brought home Rotundo and Irizarry on a two-run double. Adams followed with a sacrifice fly, Bradley coaxed a bases loaded walk and To stole home to cap the five-run rally.

In the seventh, Petrosino singled and scored on Marquez's RBI single to seal the 12-5 victory.

Prince George's, who has won three-straight games, returns to action on Saturday with a doubleheader at Montgomery College. First pitch is 12 p.m.
