Owls Men Earn First Win

Largo, MD. - Owls men's soccer earned their first win of the season getting past conference rivals Anne Arundel Community College by a final score of 6-5 on Friday, September 04, 2015.

The Owls men had a fast start to the game scoring with only 5 minutes played when Angelo Ridore was able to get in behind the defense and sneaked a shot near post to take 1-0 lead. The Riverhawks responded immediately with a goal by Brent Orbell to even the score. With chances begging on either side, Davion Alcock restored the lead and gave the Owls the 2-1 halftime lead.

The second half started just like the first, with Ridore scoring is second of the game to give the Owls the 3-1 lead. The Riverhawks responded once again to cut into the lead before Alazar Assres and Kelly Marah combined to score 3 goals in 15 minutes to push the game out of reach. With the clock winding down, the Riverhawks made the game interesting by scoring three consecutive goals. This created for an interesting last minute, but the Owls were able to walk away with the 6-5 win.

The Owls next games will be on Saturday, September 5th and Sunday, September 6th, when they travel to Germantown Soccerplex to battle Nassau and Camden at 3:30PM and 2:30PM respectively. The Owls will be one of four teams to participate in the Tom Bichy Tournament hosted by Montgomery College.
