Alex Morales Takes Battle Of Top Perch To Earn Prince George's Athletics Top Moment Of 2016-17 Honor

Thank you to everyone that participated in our Top Moments of 2016-17 bracket. We hope that it brought a little enjoyment to your summer as we reflected on last season. We are nine days away from the start of the 2017-18 season when the Owls men's soccer team hosts Mercer County on Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. on the PGCC Bermuda Soccer Field. The upcoming year is an exciting one for us with the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Prince George's athletics. #9 Alex Morales Named NJCAA Division III Honorable Mention All-American

Morales ranked second on the team with 13.8 points and a team-best 9.9 rebounds per game and shot 46.9 percent from the field. The Patterson, N.J., native averaged 19.7 points and 11.3 rebounds per game in the Maryland JUCO Tournament, including registering 22 points and 11 rebounds in an 81-71 victory against Garrett Community College in the quarterfinals on Feb. 17 and 20 points and 17 rebounds against Baltimore City in the title bout. Morales posted double figures in points 18 times this season, including five 20-point performances.  

Morales pulled three upsets on the way to earning the victory in the Battle of the Top Perch. Morales won a battle on the hardwood with No. 9 Asisha Greene Named NJCAA Division III Third-Team All-American thanks to an 82-17 percentage win. He took down top seed Men's Soccer Goes To Nationals by a score of 63-37 and then won the title of Top Moment of 2016-17 with a 68-32 win against Baseball Goes To World Series.
