Women's Basketball Inks Nine Players for 2016-17 Season

Largo, MD. - On April 20, 2016, the Owls Athletic Department held its Official Letter of Intent signing day. The signing day did not disappoint, with many area athletes committing to playing collegiate sports. Some of the top recruits in the 2016 class made their commitments to represent the institution, along with some not-so-surprising ones, but it was always interesting to see the turnout.

Women's basketball had 9 signings up to date and Coach Harris believes this group has the potential to take the program back to the National Championships in 2017. She was pleased to have attracted top talent from various high schools in Maryland such as: Tatiana Garvin - Bowie, Monet Warren – Anacostia, Tiara – Eastern, Andrea Durant Smith – Potomac, Shelby Lloyd – Anacostia, and Gina Seifert – Northern High School. Notable returners include: Ivie Foster, Lisa Seifert, and Markaila Carter from the Regional and District Championship team that made it to the National Championships in 2015.

Coach Harris is still finalizing her roster and has high hopes of signing more key additions in the upcoming weeks. She believes the 2015 roster was one player away from winning it all and thinks that this recruiting class will carry the program back to the nationals.
