Women’s Basketball Wins Third Straight

Catonsville, MD- It had been a week since the Lady Cardinals played a competitive contest, but picked up right where they left off in a 75-63 victory of Prince George's Community College on Sunday afternoon. It was a back and forth game for the first 20 minutes, as the Cardinals held onto just a four point lead at halftime. The team would leave no doubt in the second half though, running away in the fourth quarter to come out on top with the 12 point victory.

Sophomore Akirra Pullen had a career day for Catonsville, going for 22 points and 24 rebounds, both of which topped her previous highs for the season. She also shot an outstanding 9-11 (81.8%) from the floor while leading the visiting side to victory. This is the second time this season Pullen has topped 20 rebounds. Mikayla Kemp came off the bench and contributed 17 big points in this contest and added 5 rebounds of her own. As a team, Catonsville dominated on the boards outrebounding the Owls 56-30, with 20 of those coming on the offensive end.

With this victory, the Cardinals have now won three straight contests and improve to a season high five games above .500 with a 13-8 overall record, while sitting at 5-3 in conference play. Back in December, the team won a season high five consecutive games and will look to become one game closer to matching that when they host Montgomery College on Tuesday, February 11th, at 5 PM.
