Prince George's women's basketball returned to Novak Field House for their final game of 2019 on Saturday afternoon, December 20th to take on Hocking College. Looking to bounce back from a disappointing performance against Harford two days prior, the Owls turned things around in a major way. All twelve Owls who suited up for the contest registered a basket in a dominant 105-53 win to send the squad into winter break with an 8-5 overall record, including 2-4 MD JUCO. Hocking College fell to 0-7 with the loss.
Prince George's wasted no time building up their lead as they put up 31 points in both the first and second period on their way to a comfortable 62-28 halftime lead. Freshmen Kori People and Trinity Workman were tied as leading scorers at the break with 10 points each. The Owls were collectively shooting 75% (8-12) from the charity stripe which is a big jump from their season average of just 60.5%. Prince George's continued to roll in the third period offensively with 26 points but turned it up a notch defensively, allowing Hocking to score only 8 points. The Owls were quick to contest every shot, resulting in a 26.7% (4-15) success rate from the floor for the Hawks, including 0-5 from three point land.
Prince George's matched Hocking in the final period as both teams put up 17 points with the game already out of reach as the Owls secured the 105-53 victory. The 105 point performance matched the Owls season high and marked the third time this season that Prince George's has recorded at least 100 points which is already three times more than they had during the 2018-2019 season. The Owls had five different players score in double digits in the contest with People leading the way with 21 points scored in just 20 minutes of action. People also added 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 steals in perhaps her most complete game of the year.
Prince George's heads into the break after an impressive outing and will return to action in the new year on Saturday, January 4th when the Owls travel to Hagerstown Community College.
