Vilain Explodes For 31 Points And 16 Rebounds To End Season With A 74-72 Win Against Allegany

CUMBERLAND, Md. – Behind a 31-point, 16-rebound performance by Nehemie Vilain (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern), the Prince George's Community College women's basketball team ended its season on a high with a 74-72 win against Allegany College of Maryland on Wednesday.

Vilain shot 13-for-18 from the floor, 2 of 2 from behind the arc and 3 of 3 from the free throw line to end with 31 points and become the second player this season with a 30-point game. She also added a career night on the boards with nine offensive and seven defensive rebounds for a career-best 16 caroms while also adding four assists on the night.

It was the best scoring performance for Vilain since notching 20 points in her collegiate debut on November 2. She posted five double-figure performances this season including in each of her last three games and averaged 21.0 points per game in her last three tilts. After grabbing a career-high nine rebounds twice in her last five games, she notched her first 10+ rebound game and her first career double-double in her final game in her freshman campaign.

Misty Harewood (Oxon Hills, Md./Potomac) added second career double-double after finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds along with seven assists and four steals. After narrowly missing a double-double in her last game, Harewood posts her second career trick after recording 19 points and 13 rebounds against the College of Southern Maryland on January 4. She had six 10+ point games and three 10+ rebound performances this season. The seven assists established a new career best and marked the third time this season she has dished out at least five dimes.

Quatazia Johnson (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) recorded 11 points. The freshman scored double figures for the fifth time this season. Imani Andrews (Suitland, Md./Crossland) was a basket away from her first collegiate double-double, registering eight points and a career-high 15 rebounds. It was the fifth time this season she has corralled double figures in rebounds. Daisha Franklin (Washington, D.C./Parkdale) hauled in eight rebounds.

Gia Thomas (Riverdale, Md./Fairmont Heights) played her final game in an Owls uniform and posted eight points and nine rebounds. The sophomore finishes her time in Largo with 105 points, 168 rebounds, 29 steals, 21 blocks and 10 assists.

Prince George's took a 23-19 lead after the first quarter, but the Trojans used a 27-21 second quarter to grab a 46-44 lead going into the locker room. The Owls then outscored Allegany 15-13 in both the third and fourth quarter to edge the Trojans 74-72 in the final game of the year for the Largo program.
