Chop Has Career-High 17 Points And First Career Double-Double Against CCBC Catonsville

LARGO, Md. – Marisse Chop (Cameroon/PST Balfort) notched her first career double-double against CCBC Catonsville in women's basketball action on Friday. 

Chop reached her first collegiate double-double thanks to a career-high 17 points along with 10 rebounds. The freshman made eight shots from the field and one from behind the arc to account for her career evening. She grabbed two offensive rebounds and eight on the defensive end to post 10 rebounds for the second career 10+ rebound game. She had a career-high 12 rebounds against the College of Southern Maryland on January 5. She has three double-figure point games this season including back-to-back games. She is averaging 15.5 points per game in her last two tilts.

Trailing 9-1, the Owls scored the final nine points of the first quarter to take a 10-9 lead after one quarter. Chop had six points and Quatazia Johnson (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) added a traditional 3-point play in the run.

After the Cardinals scored the first points of the second quarter to take an 11-10 edge, Chop drained her lone trey of the game to restore the Prince George's lead at 13-11. CCBC Catonsville closed the stanza on an 18-8 run to take a 29-22 lead going into the locker room. The Cardinals used a 25-12 third quarter and a 17-11 final frame to earn the 71-44 win.

Johnson finished with nine points, four rebounds and three assists.

Prince George's returns to action on Wednesday on the road at Cecil College. Game time is 7 p.m.
