Harewood's Career Night Highlights Prince George's Women's Basketball Against The College Of Southern Maryland

LARGO, Md. – Prince George's Community College drops a 63-45 decision to the College of Southern Maryland in Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) women's basketball action on Friday.

Misty Harewood (Oxon Hills, Md./Potomac) paced the Owls with 19 points and a career-high 13 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double. The freshman matched her career best in points for the second time in three games after also scoring 19 points against Butler County Community College on Dec. 14. It was also her third double-figure point contest this season. She added a career-high 13 boards after registering 11 caroms against Hagerstown Community College on Nov. 28. The freshman is averaging 14.0 points per game in her last three tilts. 

Marisse Chop (Cameroon/PSS Bafort) added six points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Chop recorded her second game with at least seven rebounds after corralling seven boards against SUNY Sullivan on Nov. 18.

Nehemie Vilain (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) posted career-high eight assists along with six boards while Quatazia Johnson (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) posted five points and a personal-best nine rebounds in the loss. Vilain has four games with at least five rebounds while this marked the first time in her career she has dished out more than two assists. Johnson has four games with five caroms this year.

Powered by five points by Harewood, the Owls closed the first quarter on a 10-2 run to erase a 15-7 deficit and even the score at 17 after one quarter. 

The Hawks used a 13-8 second quarter to take a 30-25 lead at the break. Prince George's played tough in the third quarter to a 15-14 deficit before the College of Southern Maryland pulled away with a 15-6 final frame for a 63-45 win.

Prince George's returns to the hardwood at Howard Community College on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
