Prince George's Women's Basketball Falls To Jefferson Community College

LARGO, Md. – After an exciting season-opening night win on Friday, Prince George's Community College battled tough on Saturday in a loss to Jefferson Community College in women's basketball action.

Misty Harewood (Oxon Hills, Md./Potomac) paced the Owls (1-1) with a career-high 18 points and eight rebounds. The freshman made five shots from the floor including one from behind the arc and seven charity tosses to account for her 18 points. She becomes the fifth different player to reach double figures after four players scored at least 10 points in the season opener on Friday.

Michalea Ball (Washington, D.C.), who grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds on Friday, and Aja Hale (Seat Pleasant, Md./Gwynn Park) both finished with seven boards apiece.

The Cannoneers won the game with big first (20-3) and third (21-9) quarters to earn a 69-45 victory. Prince George's held a 13-12 advantage in the second quarter thanks to seven points from Harewood. Just like last night, Quatazia Johnson (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) came on late to help the Owls take the fourth quarter 20-16 with all seven of her points in the stanza. Johnson has posted 13 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter this season.

Prince George's returns to action on November 9 at the McDonald's Classic hosted by Garrett College. The Owls open the tournament against Pennsylvania Highlands Community College at 1 p.m. and then will battle Hagerstown Community College on November 10 at 12 p.m.
