LARGO, MD. – Freshman Marche Sisco made the fans in Novak Field House feel like the weather outside after pouring in 35 points, 11 assists and five steals in an 89-38 victory against Middlesex County College in the National Junior College Athletic Association women's basketball opener for both teams on Friday.

The second day of November was unseasonably warm with rain while inside the gym was warm and Sisco was raining 3-pointers all night. The freshman hit 12-for-17 from the floor, 8 of 11 from behind the arc and 3 of 8 from the charity stripe. Sisco dished out 11 assists to earn her first collegiate double-double and stuffed the stat sheet with five steals and two rebounds.

Fellow freshman Nehemie Vilain (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) also had a nice debut with 20 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists. Gia Thomas (Riverdale, Md./Fairmont Heights), the lone returner from last year, added a career-high 11 points along with eight rebounds while Quatazia Johnson (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) came on late in the game to finish with 10 points in the winning effort.

Behind 12 points from Sisco and seven from Thomas, the Owls (1-0) jumped out to a 26-6 advantage after the first quarter. Vilain and Johnson posted four points each in the second quarter that saw both teams put up 13 points, but Prince George's went into the locker room with a 39-19 lead.

Sisco scored 14 of the 24 Owl points in the third quarter to increase the margin to 63-26. Sisco and Vilain each had seven points in the final quarter while Johnson added six points in a 26 point fourth quarter to seal the victory. When Sisco came out of the game midway through the fourth quarter she was outscoring the Blue Colts.
