opening tip… Prince George's makes its only stop at Novak Field House in it four games in seven days spurt on Friday against Baltimore City. The Panthers defeated the Owls last season.

last time out…  Sophomore Gina Seifert continues to be a dominant scorer and rebounder for Prince George's Community College after posting 26 points and 20 rebounds in an 81-50 loss at Frederick Community College on Wednesday. Seifert has scored at least 21 points in her last seven games with five games with at least 25 points including a pair or career-best 30-point outbursts. Her rebounding prowess has also been on display by grabbing at least 12 rebounds in that stretch including four tilts with at least 19 caroms. She is averaging 26.0 points and 17.8 rebounds in her last seven contests. Seifert against the Cougars shot 8-for-22 from the floor and 10 of 17 from the free throw line for her second-straight 26-point output. She hauled in eight offensive rebounds and 12 defensive rebounds to notch her second-consecutive 20-rebound game while adding an assist and steal on the night. Freshman Imani Yates posted 18 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Owls while Aja Ceesay notched career highs in both points (6) and rebounds (15) on the night. Yates has recorded double figures in points in five-consecutive games and in 11 of her last 13 tilts. She has scored at least 16 points in a game eight times in her freshman campaign. Since joining the starting lineup after the New Year, Ceesay has increased her offensive output in each of the four games while corralling at least 11 rebounds in all four games including her first 15-rebound game on Wednesday night. Ceesay is averaging 12.5 rebounds in 2018. Prince George's had two players with at least 15 rebounds for the first time since accomplishing the feat against Garrett College on Feb. 4, 2017.

next time on the hardwood… The Owls travel to Southern Maryland on Sunday and to Hagerstown on Jan. 31 before wrapping up the regular season at home against Harford on Feb. 7.

national recognition for seifert part 2…  For the second time in five weeks, Prince George's Community College women's basketball sophomore Gina Seifert was named the NJCAA Division III Player of the Week on Dec. 20. Seifert first garnered the award for the week of Nov. 13-19. Seifert continued her dominance with her second-straight 30-point performance against NJCAA Division I Chesapeake to match her career high set one week prior against CCBC Catonsville on Dec. 6 and also hauled in a career-best 20 rebounds against the Skipjacks. She shot 13-for-21 from the floor and 4 of 6 from the free throw line while hauling in five offensive and 15 defensive rebounds while also tallying two assists, three steals and a block in the lone contest of the week for the Owls.

national recognition for seifert part 1… Gina Seifert was named the NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Nov. 21. Seifert, a sophomore forward, posted three 20-point performances and at least 16 rebounds in the three games while averaging 23.3 points, 17.3 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.3 blocks and 1.6 assists per game in the week. She started her week by matching her career high with 25 points along with 16 rebounds against Allegany College of Maryland on Nov. 15. She then posted 22 points and 18 rebounds against Butler County Community College on Nov. 17 and 23 points and 18 rebounds against Westmoreland County Community College on Nov. 18. She shot 48.0 percent (24-for-50) from the floor and 81.5 percent (22-for-27) from the free throw line while also tallying nine steals, seven blocks and five assists in the three games.

having a career day… Sophomore Aja Ceesay hauled in a career-high 15 rebounds against Frederick on Jan. 24. Freshman Imani Yates recorded a career-high 29 points against Howard on Jan. 17. Freshman Camry Gantt notched a career-high 12 points against Montgomery on Dec, 20. Sophomore Gina Seifert has notched a career-high four times this season and matched her career-high for the second-straight game after scoring 30 points at Chesapeake on Dec. 14 after posting 30 points against CCBC Catonsville on Dec. 6. The sophomore, who posted a career best for points three times at home and once on the road, also hauled in a career-high 23 rebounds against Northern Virginia on Jan. 22. Freshman Daja Latten posted her first double-digit point performance against Chesapeake with 15 points. Freshman Rickkia Jackson notched a career-high 11 points against Butler County. Jackson then hauled in a career-best 14 boards against Westmoreland on Nov. 18. Sophomore Myanna Strong led the way for the Owls against Pennsylvania Highlands on Nov. 8 with a career-high 18 points. Latten (13 rebounds) recorded a career high in rebounds against Potomac State on Dec. 2.

the point is double figures… Sophomore Gina Seifert has posted double figures in points 16 times this season and 32 times in her career. Sophomore Myanna Strong has eight 10+ point games in her career including seven times this season while freshman Imani Yates has reached double figures in points 11 times this campaign. Freshmen Camry Gantt has two 10-point games to her credit while Daja Latten and Rickkia Jackson each have a 10-point game.

20-20 vision… Sophomore Gina Seifert has 12 20-point performances and two 30-point performances in her career, including 11 20-point games and both 30-point outbursts this season. Freshman Imani Yates has posted 20 points four times this season, including a career-best 29 points against Howard on Jan. 17.

on the boards… Sophomore Gina Seifert has reached double figures in rebounds 29 times in her career including 14 times in 2017-18. Seifert has also hauled in 15 or more rebounds 13 times in her career including 10 this season. Freshman Rickkia Jackson has four 10+ rebound game this season while sophomore Aja Ceesay has three 10+ rebounds performances. Freshmen Daja Latten and Imani Yates each have two 10+ rebound games this season. 

boards a plenty… Sophomore Gina Seifert has recorded 20 rebounds in a game three times this season including a career-high 23 caroms against Northern Virginia on Jan. 22. The sophomore has hauled in 15 or more rebounds 13 times in her career including 10 times this season. Sophomore Aja Ceesay corralled a career-high 15 rebounds against Frederick on Jan. 24.

double trouble… Sophomore Gina Seifert has 24 double-doubles in her career including 14 this season. She registered a career-high 30 points along with 20 rebounds against Chesapeake on Dec. 14. Freshman Imani Yates has three double-doubles and fellow freshman Daja Latten has turned the trick once this season.

one seifert to rule them all… After playing with her sister Lisa Seifert last season, sophomore Gina Seifert returns in 2017-18 to Prince George's with Lisa now at Salisbury University. The sophomore ranked second on the team with 11.0 points and a team-best 9.4 rebounds per game last season. She has posted 12 20-point performances, two 30-point tilts and 32 games with at least 10 points in her two-year career. The sophomore has 29 double-figure rebound performances and 24 double-doubles in her career. She has been named the NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Player of the Week twice in 2017-18. In the classroom, Gina Seifert was a 4.0 student last year to earn NJCAA All-Academic first team honors. Seifert is the third of three siblings to play at Prince George's Community College. Along with Lisa, her older brother Stevie was a member of the 2014 NJCAA World Series Owls baseball team. Her mother Teresa has been a professor for 32 years in Largo, was once the women's basketball head coach and was just named the Owls new softball head coach in the fall.

welcome to the perch… Head coach Tiona Harris has added freshman Camry GanttDaja LattenRickkia Jackson, Giovanni Thomas and Imani Yates to the team in 2016-17.

that's gold, jerry, gold… Prince George's is celebrating its 50th Anniversary of Prince George's Athletics in 2017-18. Prince George's unveiled gold uniforms for men's soccer against Cecil on Sept. 15 as part of the 50th Anniversary of Prince George's Athletics, A Celebration of the Past, Present, And Future. The men's and women's basketball teams unveiled their gold jerseys for the doubleheader against CCBC Catonsville on Dec. 6 and will be wearing them for select games the rest of the season.

hosting maryland juco tournament… Prince George's will be hosting the Maryland JUCO Tournament for both men's and women's basketball on Feb. 23-25.

women's basketball tradition… The women's basketball team has won the Maryland JUCO Tournament seven times (1973-74, 1974-75, 1977-78, 1978-79, 1985-86, 1988-89 and 2000-01) and the NJCAA Region XX title four times (1974-75, 1988-89, 2005-06 and 2015-16).

about the coach… Head coach Tiona Harris, a former women's basketball standout at Prince George's Community College, begins her seventh season as head coach of the Owls. She guided the Owls to the 2014-15 NJCAA Region XX Division III title and a trip to the national tournament.
