Seifert Continues To Show Talents On Both Ends Of The Floor In Loss At Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. – Sophomore Gina Seifert (Owings, Md./Northern) continues to be a dominant scorer and rebounder for Prince George's Community College after posting 26 points and 20 rebounds in an 81-50 loss at Frederick Community College in Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) women's basketball action on Wednesday.

Seifert has scored at least 21 points in her last seven games with five games with at least 25 points including a pair or career-best 30-point outbursts. Her rebounding prowess has also been on display by grabbing at least 12 rebounds in that stretch including four tilts with at least 19 caroms. She is averaging 26.0 points and 17.8 rebounds in her last seven contests.

Seifert against the Cougars shot 8-for-22 from the floor and 10 of 17 from the free throw line for her second-straight 26-point output. She hauled in eight offensive rebounds and 12 defensive rebounds to notch her second-consecutive 20-rebound game while adding an assist and steal on the night.

Freshman Imani Yates (Seat Pleasant, Md./Friendship Collegiate) posted 18 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Owls (6-10, 3-5 MD JUCO) while Aja Ceesay (Fajara, Gambia/Gambia Methodist) notched career highs in both points (6) and rebounds (15) on the night.

Yates has recorded double figures in points in five-consecutive games and in 11 of her last 13 tilts. She has scored at least 16 points in a game eight times in her freshman campaign.

Since joining the starting lineup after the New Year, Ceesay has increased her offensive output in each of the four games while corralling at least 11 rebounds in all four games including her first 15-rebound game on Wednesday night. Ceesay is averaging 12.5 rebounds in 2018.

Prince George's had two players with at least 15 rebounds for the first time since accomplishing the feat against Garrett College on Feb. 4, 2017.

Frederick held the advantage in three of the four quarters. The Cougars took a 24-19 lead after one quarter and a 39-34 margin going into the locker room after the two teams played even at 15 points apiece. Frederick then held a 26-5 advantage in the third quarter and a 16-11 margin in the fourth quarter to earn the victory.

The Owls return to action on Friday when they host Baltimore City Community College. Game time is 5 p.m.
