 Prince George's returns to the hardwood after having 10 days off with a contest against Cecil at Novak Field House on Wednesday. Winners of three of their last four tilts, the Owls will play the next four games in Largo. The Seahawks defeated Prince George's last season in North East.

at butler county…  Imani Yates and Gina Seifert combined for 46 points to power Prince George's Community College past Butler County Community College 74-61 on Nov. 17. Yates established a new career high with 24 points against the Pioneers. The freshman shot 10-for-17 from the floor, 2 of 7 from behind the arc and 2 of 2 from the free throw line. She added seven rebounds, four steals and two assists. Seifert notched her second-straight 20-point performance after scoring 22 points on the night. The sophomore registered her third 20-point game this season and fourth of her career while also notching her fourth double-double of the season after also hauling in 18 rebounds. Myanna Strong stuffed the stat sheet for the Owls with 13 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and four assists. Rickkia Jackson just missed a double-double on Friday after tallying a career-high 11 points along with nine caroms.

at westmoreland county… Prince George's Community College women's basketball drops a 64-47 contest to Westmoreland County Community College on Nov. 18. Gina Seifert paced the Owls with 23 points and 18 rebounds. The sophomore connected on 7-for-17 of her shots from the floor and 9 of 12 from the foul line to notch her third-straight 20-point performance, fourth of the season and fifth of her career. She posted her sixth double-double in 2017-18 in seven games and 14th in her two-year career. Rickkia Jackson posted eight points and a career-best 14 caroms while Imani Yates chipped in nine points in the loss.

national recognition for seifert… Gina Seifert was named the NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Nov. 21. Seifert, a sophomore forward, posted three 20-point performances and at least 16 rebounds in the three games while averaging 23.3 points, 17.3 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.3 blocks and 1.6 assists per game in the week. She started her week by matching her career high with 25 points along with 16 rebounds against Allegany College of Maryland on Nov. 15. She then posted 22 points and 18 rebounds against Butler County Community College on Nov. 17 and 23 points and 18 rebounds against Westmoreland County Community College on Nov. 18. She shot 48.0 percent (24-for-50) from the floor and 81.5 percent (22-for-27) from the free throw line while also tallying nine steals, seven blocks and five assists in the three games.

next time on the hardwood… Prince George's continues its four-game homestand with Potomac State on Saturday while CCBC Catonsville (Dec. 6) and CC of Beaver County (Dec. 12) will also come to town during this stretch. The Owls were scheduled to host Mesabi Range on Dec. 16, but that contest has been canceled.

having a career day… Sophomore Gina Seifert has notched a career-high twice this season after registering 25 points against both Cumberland County in the season opener on Nov. 1 and against Allegany (Md.) on Nov. 15 with both games coming at Novak Field House. Freshman Imani Yates posted a career-high 24 points against Butler County on Nov. 17 while freshman Rickkia Jackson notched a career-high 11 points against Butler County. Jackson then hauled in a career-best 14 boards against Westmoreland on Nov. 18. Sophomore Myanna Strong led the way for the Owls against Pennsylvania Highlands on Nov. 8 with a career-high 18 points.

the point is double figures… Sophomore Asisha Greene has posted double figures in all 27 games she has played. Sophomore Markaila Carter has scored double digits in 24 of the 26 games she has played for the Largo program. Sophomore Gina Seifert has posted double figures in points seven times this season and 23 times in her career. Sophomore Myanna Strong has five 10+ point games in her career including three this season while freshman Imani Yates has reached double figures in points three times this campaign. Freshman Rickkia Jackson also has a 10-point game to her credit.

20-20 vision…
 Sophomore Asisha Greene has scored 20 points in a game 17 times in her career including 11 games with at least 25 points. Sophomore Markaila Carter has posted 20 points five times in her career while fellow sophomore Gina Seifert has five 20-point performances, including four this season. Freshman Imani Yates joined the club with her career-high 24 points against Butler County on Nov. 17.

on the boards…
 Sophomore Gina Seifert has reached double figures in rebounds 21 times in her career including six times in 2017-18. Sophomore Asisha Greene has 10 games with 10 rebounds or more. Freshman Rickkia Jackson has four 10+ rebound game this season and Imani Yates has won double-digit rebound game. Sophomore Markaila Carter had a 10-board game in 2014-15.

double trouble… Sophomore Gina Seifert has 16 double-doubles in her career including six this season while sophomore Asisha Greene has 10 double-doubles and sophomore Markaila Carter has one double-double from her freshman year. Freshman Imani Yates notched her first career double-double against Allegany College of Maryland on Nov. 15.

the word on the seahawks…Cecil comes into the contest 6-1 overall and 2-1 in Maryland JUCO play after falling 89-82 to Montgomery on Nov. 21.

one seifert to rule them all… After playing with her sister Lisa Seifert last season, sophomore Gina Seifert returns in 2017-18 to Prince George's with Lisa now at Salisbury University. The sophomore ranked second on the team with 11.0 points and a team-best 9.4 rebounds per game last season. She has posted three 20-point performances and 21 games with at least 10 points in her two-year career. The sophomore has 21 double-figure rebound performances and 16 double-doubles in her career. In the classroom, Gina Seifert was a 4.0 student last year to earn NJCAA All-Academic first team honors. Seifert is the third of three siblings to play at Prince George's Community College. Along with Lisa, her older brother Stevie was a member of the 2014 NJCAA World Series Owls baseball team. Her mother Teresa has been a professor for 32 years in Largo, was once the women's basketball head coach and was just named the Owls new softball head coach in the fall.

nice to see you again…
 Sophomore Markaila Carter returns to the Owls after playing women's basketball in Largo for the 2014-15 season. Carter averaged 16.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while recording 96 assists and 86 steals in that campaign. That season Prince George's also won the NJCAA Region XX Division III Tournament for the fourth time and advanced to the national tournament. Carter posted double figures in points in 23 of the 24 games she played as a freshman including a career-high 28 points against West George Technical in the district championships on Feb. 28, 2015.

 Head coach Tiona Harris has added freshman Camry GanttDaja LattenRickkia Jackson, Giovanni Thomas and Imani Yates to the team in 2016-17.

that's gold, jerry, gold…
 Prince George's is celebrating its 50th Anniversary of Prince George's Athletics in 2017-18. Prince George's unveiled gold uniforms for men's soccer against Cecil on Sept. 15 as part of the 50th Anniversary of Prince George's Athletics, A Celebration of the Past, Present, And Future. The men's and women's basketball teams will unveil their gold jerseys for the doubleheader against CCBC Catonsville on Dec. 6 and then will be wearing them for select games the rest of the season.

alumni appreciation night… The athletics department will be holding Alumni Appreciation Night that will also include Prince George's faculty and staff on Dec. 6 against CCBC Catonsville at 5/7 p.m. Alumni, faculty or staff that wish to participate in the event must pre-register at www.pgccowls.com/alumninight in order to receive up to four free tickets, a free gift and discounted meals. Deadline is Dec. 1. Prince George's will also be holding a Kid's Night Out on Jan. 17.

hall of fame… Prince George's will be holding its inaugural Hall of Fame as part of the 50th Anniversary celebration. Nominations are currently being accepted until Dec. 15 by going to www.pgccowls.com/halloffame.

hosting maryland juco tournament… Prince George's will be hosting the Maryland JUCO Tournament for both men's and women's basketball on Feb. 23-25.

women's basketball tradition… The women's basketball team has won the Maryland JUCO Tournament seven times (1973-74, 1974-75, 1977-78, 1978-79, 1985-86, 1988-89 and 2000-01) and the NJCAA Region XX title four times (1974-75, 1988-89, 2005-06 and 2015-16).

about the coach… Head coach Tiona Harris, a former women's basketball standout at Prince George's Community College, begins her seventh season as head coach of the Owls. She guided the Owls to the 2014-15 NJCAA Region XX Division III title and a trip to the national tournament.
