Seifert And Yates Career Nights Fuel Prince George's Women's Basketball To 76-57 Victory Against Allegany (Md.)

LARGO, Md. – Gina Seifert (Owings, Md./Northern) matched a career high with 25 points while adding 16 rebounds to power Prince George's Community College past Allegany College of Maryland 76-57 in Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) women's basketball action on Wednesday.

Seifert, who recorded 25 points in the season-opening victory against Cumberland County on Nov. 1, shot 9-for-17 from the floor and converted 7 of 8 from the free throw line for her 25 points. It marked the second time this season the sophomore has posted 20 points in a game and the third time in her career. She also hauled in 16 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season and the 12 of her career. Seifert stuffed the stat sheet by adding five steals, three assists and two blocks on the night.

Imani Yates (Seatpleasant, Md./Friendship Collegiate) also notched a career-high 17 points for the Owls (3-2, 1-0 MD JUCO) and her first collegiate double-double after finishing with 10 rebounds. The freshman also had five assists. Myanna Strong (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo) notched 13 points in the game after scoring a career-high 18 points against Pennsylvania Highlands on Nov. 8

The Trojans (2-2, 0-1 MD JUCO) held the lead after the first quarter, but Prince George's took control in the second quarter and earned its second-straight win after its biggest offensive output this season.

The Owls trailed by nine in the first quarter but closed the stanza on a 10-4 run to end the stanza trailing by three points at 19-16. Seifert posted four points while Strong and Yates each drained a trey in the spurt.

Prince George's used a 19-5 second period to take a 35-24 lead going into the locker room. Yates and Camry Gantt (Tyrell County, N.C./Fairmont Heights) fueled the 19-point second quarter with six points each.

Seifert nearly had a double-double in the third quarter alone, finishing with 10 points and nine rebounds. Strong was the leading scorer in the fourth for the Owls with six points. The second half was a more evenly fight with the Largo team outscoring the Trojans 24-19 in the third and 17-14 in the fourth to go on for a 76-57 victory.

Rickkia Jackson (Washington, D.C./Ballou) hauled in 10 rebounds for the third time this season and added five points while Daja Latten (Washington, D.C./Cardozo Education Campus) stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.

Prince George's returns to action with a two-game road trip to Western Pennsylvania. The squad will start the trip at Butler County on Friday. Tipoff is 5 p.m.
