Ashley Wilson Places Third In The Triple Jump To Lead Prince George's At The NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track And Field Championships

COLUMBIA, Md. – Ashley Wilson (White Plains, Md./Prince Anne) posted a pair of Top-8 performances to power the Prince George's Community College track and field team at the 2017 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Outdoor Track And Field Championships hosted by Howard Community College on Friday.

After the Owls men's 4x800m relay team finished third on Thursday, Ashley Wilson posted seven points on the women's side after finishing third in the triple jump with a leap of 10.18m and placing eighth in the long jump with a distance of 4.71m. She posted her best mark on her second jump in both events on the afternoon.

Mary Foday (District Heights, Md./Central) qualified for a pair of finals on Saturday after registering the fourth-best times in the 100m dash and the 200m dash. Foday won the first heat in the 100m dash with a time of 12.76 and finished second in the second heat of the 200m dash with a time of 26.20. The finals for the 100m dash are at 12:40 p.m. and the 200m dash finals are set for 2:10 p.m. on Saturday.

Ari Wilson (Clinton, Md./Charles Herbert Flowers) advanced to the finals of the 400m dash. He posted the third-best time in the second heat and fourth overall with a time of 50.32. The finals for the 400m dash are scheduled for 12:35 p.m. on Saturday.

Christy-Morel Andjalepou (Washington, D.C./Cardozo Education Campus) also moved onto the finals in the 800m run. He recorded the third-best time in the first heat and the seventh-best time overall to advance to the finals on Saturday at 1:45 p.m. after running a time of 2:01.45. Andjalepou is also set to race in the 1500m run on Saturday at 12:10 p.m.

The members of the men's 4x800m relay quartet teamed up again on Friday to post the second-best qualifying time in the 4x400m relay. Baladji Diakite (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo), who anchored the relay on Thursday, opened the 4x400m relay and was followed by Andjalepou, Edwin Brown III (Upper Marlboro, Md./Homeschooled) and Ari Wilson to finish with the top time in first heat at 3:27.07. The 4x400m relay is slated to close out the championships at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Druex Collins (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson) finished 10th in the 200m dash (27.21) while Diakite posted a 10th-place standing in the 400m dash (52.42).

The Prince George's men's team will compete in four events on Saturday and currently sits in 15th place with six points while Foday will be in two events for the Owls women's squad, who stands in 13th place thanks to Ashley Wilson's seven points on Friday.

Prince George's concludes its season at the NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track And Field Championships on Saturday.
