Owls Dominate in First Game

The Owls men's soccer team started off the season strong with a dominating 10-0 win over host Allegany. Prince George's relentless offensive attack saw six different Owls score throughout the game.

The Owls wasted no time getting on the board as they quickly found themselves leading 3-0 just 11 minutes into the game. Freshman Alexis Gvevara began the season for the Owls scoring the first goal of the season from a cross from fellow freshman Abdoul Fall Serigne at the 7 minute mark. Serigne continued his attack throughout the game, finishing with three goals and two assists.

The Owls headed into halftime leading 5-0 after scores from four different players. Along with two goals from Gvevara and one from Serigne, Sophomore Brandon Betts and Freshman Mamadou Maina each added a goal of their own to give the Owls a comfortable lead.

The goals kept coming in the second half as Serigne quickly built the Owls lead to 7-0 with a goal in both the 46th and 52nd minute. Assists were by Freshman Noah Chinye and Freshman Jamal Coleridge, respectively. The Owls finished an extremely efficient second half scoring 5 goals on only 9 shots to finish off the game 10-0.

Freshman goalkeeper Austin Geier saw little action throughout the game thanks to an aggressive offense, recording three saves to keep a clean slate for the Owls.

First year head coach Scott Villagran will look to continue his teams impressive start in the Owls home opener tomorrow (August 27th) when Northern Virginia visits Largo for a 3 p.m. match start.
