Sherif-Garcia Tandem Surges Prince George's Men's Soccer Past Anne Arundel, 2-0

ARNOLD, Md. – Prince George's Community College has posted 23 of its 29 goals on the year in the second half and Moh Sherif (District Heights, Md./Central) and Chris Garcia (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) might have scored the biggest second-half goals this season to date to propel the Owls past Anne Arundel Community College 2-0 in Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) and National Junior College Athletic Conference (NJCAA) Region XX Division III men's soccer action on Friday.

In a pivotal matchup for seeding purposes in the upcoming NJCAA Region XX Division III Tournament, the two teams battled scoreless through one half. Prince George's seized a great opportunity after Eryck Manzanares (Landover Hills, Md./Parkdale) had his shot from right to left saved by the Riverhawks' netminder only to see Sherif clean up in front of the net to find the netting for a 1-0 lead at the 77:52 mark. 

The Owls netminder Aboubacarr Sincera (Lanham, Md./Parkdale) booted a goal kick down the center of the field and found a streaking Garcia, who won a 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper to seal the victory with two minutes and nine seconds left in the match.

Sinera made a nice save early in the second half among the four shots that he faced in the final frame. After Prince George's took the lead, Anne Arundel had two corner kicks and a shot as time was running out to help the Owls preserve their sixth shutout of the season. The squad has won five straight and six of its last seven matches while producing six shutouts in that stretch.

Sherif continues to post points and has registered a point in seven-consecutive matches and now has four goals and four assists for 12 points to sit second on the team in both goals and points.  Garcia now has three tallies and two assists for eight points while Manzanares recorded an assist for the second-straight game and Sinera notched his first collegiate point on the night.

Prince George's, who will play five matches over the next eight days, returns to action on Monday at Frederick Community College. Match time is 4 p.m.
