Prince George's Men's Soccer Has No Problems Fishing For Goals Against Chesapeake College

LARGO, Md. – Jalen Washington (Washington, D.C./DeMatha) did something on Tuesday night that he had not done since middle school to power Prince George's Community College past Chesapeake College 10-1 in Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) men's soccer action. The freshman said that he has scored three goals in a game before, but that he had not done it since middle school and finished the night with three goals and one assist.

Washington got the scoring started five minutes and 13 seconds into the match when Moh Sherif (Capital Heights, Md./Central) passed him a through ball and he beat the goalkeeper for a 1-0 edge. Nearly six minutes later Washington twinkled the twine off a feeder from Ben Montague (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson) for a two-goal lead at the 11:01 mark. Washington had a chance at a natural hat trick, but his shot was stopped by the netminder in the 16th minute. He had a hand in the Owls (6-3-0, 4-2-0 MD JUCO) third goal when he had returned the favor to Montague with a nice pass at the 21:19 mark.

Montague and Sherif also had nice nights. Montague posted two goals and two assists while Sherif upped his games point streak to five games thanks to three helpers against the Skipjacks. Montague leads the team with six goals and three assists for 15 points while Washington has four tallies and three assists for 11 points and Sherif is third with three goals and four helpers for 10 points.

Ross Brandon (Washington, D.C./DeMatha), Hector Ortiz Hyattsville, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) and Habib Rahmin (Riverdale, Md./Diocesan) each notched their first collegiate scores in the match as part of a seven-goal second half. Brandon had an interesting goal after he knocked in a rebound off a penalty kick save to get the scoring started in the frame at 45:27.

Washington completed his hat trick off an assist from Montague at 45:43 for a 5-1 lead. Montague (49:34) and Guillaume Nseke (Largo, Md./Largo) (66:27) each found the back of the net off feeders from Sherif.

After Nseke's tally, he helped Rahmin notch his first collegiate goal at 72:20. Chris Garcia (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) posted his second marker of the season at 75:36 and Ortiz took a pass from Eryck Manzanares (Landover Hills, Md./Parkdale) in the final three minutes of the game to seal the victory. Manzanares notched his first collegiate point on the play.

Garcia, Nseke and Francisco Canton (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) are tied with two markers and two assists for six points.

Aboubacarr Sinera (Lanham, Md./Parkdale) made one save to earn the win while Angel Olmedo recorded two stops in the final 28 minutes.

Prince George's returns to action on Friday at Anne Arundel Community College in a critical Region XX Division III tilt. Match time is 5 p.m.
