Home Cookin' Sparks Prince George's Offense In 4-0 Win Against Union County

LARGO, Md. – Jalen Washington (Washington, D.C./DeMatha) scored in the first half while Chris Garcia (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly), Linuel Tibet (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) and Francisco Canton (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) added tallies in the second half to propel Prince George's Community College past Union County College 4-0 in non-conference men's soccer action on Saturday.

The quartet each found the twine for the first time in their collegiate careers and join Roban Boima (Hyattsville, Md./DuVal) as players that have scored a goal for the Owls (2-2-0) this season.

Yoimo Khan Torres (Hyattasville, Md./Northwestern) got the start in between the pipes for Prince George's and made one save in the first 45 minutes to earn his first victory while Aboubacarr Sinera (Lanham, Md./Parkdale) played the final 45 minutes to complete the duos second combined shutout this season.

Washington took advantage of a bad clear attempt by Union County and found the bottom right corner at 29:20 to give the Largo program a 1-0 advantage going into the half.

The Owls then exploded for three markers in a little over 10-minute span in the final frame. Garcia capitalized after Moh Sherif (Capital Heights, Md./Central) had his shot saved by the goalkeeper and Canton had his chance blocked by the defense, but Garcia was able to pounce and twinkle the twine after Canton's shot was blocked to give Prince George's a 2-0 lead at the 52:04 mark.

After a Union County foul, was able to drill a shot into the top corner from 30-yards out with 35 minutes left for a three-goal lead. Canton joined the offensive parade off a feeder from Ben Montague (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson) with 62:11 on the clock to seal the victory.

The game was the Largo program's first game on the PGCC Bermuda Field this season while the team notches the fourth-consecutive home-opening win.

Washington's tally ended a 218:58-minute consecutive scoreless streak while the squad ended a two-game skid, marking the first time the Owls had posted consecutive losses since 2016.
