Boima's Goal In 71st Minute Gives Prince George's Men's Soccer Season-Opening Win At Hagerstown, 1-0

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Roban Boima (Hyattsville, Md./DuVal) scored in the 71st minute to power Prince George's Community College past Hagerstown Community College 1-0 in the Owls season opener and Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) men's soccer action on Tuesday.

After nearly 71 scoreless minutes, Boima took a pass from Guillame Nseke (Bowie, Md./Largo) and found the back of the right netting for the lone goal of the afternoon at the 71:22 mark for the first collegiate points for both players in their Prince George's (1-0, 1-0 MD JUCO) debut.

Aboubacarr Sinera (Hyattsville, Md./Parkdale) earned the win after protecting the pipes in the final 45 minutes of the match. Sinera made an acrobatic save in the 61st minute after he pushed the ball off the cross bar and over the net. That shot saved by the Owls netminder was also the Hawks last scoring chance in the contest.

Yoaimo Khan Torres (Hyattsville, Md./Parkdale) got the start for the Largo program and turned away two shots in the winning effort. Boima, Chris Garcia (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) and Moh Sherif (Capital Heights, Md./Central) paced the team with three shots apiece. Sherif is the lone returner from last year's squad.

The win also marked the first win in head coach Tony Galeano's era as head coach of Prince George's.

The Owls remain on the road at the Tom Bichy Tournament hosted by Montgomery College with a match against the defending National Junior College Athletic Conference (NJCAA) Division III national champion Genesee Community College on Sunday. Match time is 12 p.m. at the Maryland Sportsplex in Boyds, Md.
