Goals By Sherif And Panton Helps No. 10 Prince George's Men's Soccer Knock Off No. 5 Montgomery, 2-1

GERMANTOWN, Md. – Roshawn Panton (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) and Moh Sherif (Capital Heights, Md./Central) each twinkled the twine to power No. 10 Prince George's over fifth-ranked Montgomery 2-1 in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XX Division IIII and Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) men's soccer action on Tuesday.

Sherif gave the Owls (10-3-0, 7-3-0 MD JUCO) the lead with his second tally of the season in the 32nd minute off a William Chavez (Hyattsville, Md./Parkdale) assist. Sherif has posted a tally in two of his last three matches while Chavez has dished out an assist in his last two contests.

Sherif got the second goal scoring opportunity started when he passed the ball to Edwin Claros (Adelphi, Md./High Point), who found Perry Lawrence (Langley Park, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) and fed Panton for his 20th goal of the season. Panton ranks third in NJCAA Division III and seventh in the entire NJCAA with his 20 goals while his 46 points rank fourth in NJCAA Division III. Lawrence has posted two tallies and two feeders in his last five games.

Jonathan Claros (Adelphi, Md./High Point) made five saves in the winning effort.

The Raptors (13-3-0, 7-3-0 MD JUCO) scored a goal in the final nine minutes of the game but could get no closer the rest of the way.

Prince George's upended the No. 5 team in NJCAA Division III for the second time this season and the second time they have beat a ranked opponent at the Maryland SportsPlex. The Owls opened the season with a 3-1 win against then No. 5 Nassau on Sept. 3 in the Tom Bichy Tournament at the SportsPlex.

Prince George's returns to action on Friday at Allegany College of Maryland. Match time is 4 p.m.
