Prince George's Men's Soccer Coach Taiye Akinmboni Participates In Fourth Annual Heart and Health Charity Bike Ride

LARGO, Md. – Prince George's Community College men's soccer interim head coach Taiye Akinmboni participated in the Fourth Annual Heart and Health Charity Bike Ride to benefit the Cardiac Surgery Program at the UM Prince George's Hospital Center on Saturday.

"When I heard that Prince George's Community College was a part of this charity bike ride, I knew that I had to participate," said Akinmboni. "I had never biked more than 13 miles in one day but pushed myself to benefit UM Bowie Health Center, UM Laurel Regional Hospital, and UM Prince George's Hospital Center Cardiac Surgery Program and Rehabilitation Program. I made some new friends along the way that have been riding for years that helped me during my 34-mile journey."

Akinmboni, who played men's soccer at Prince George's Community College in 1998 and 1999, biked 34 miles for three hours on the Anacostia River, Lake Artemisia, Paint Branch, and College Park Trolley Trails in Prince George's County. 

Donations from the charity bike ride support the cardiac surgery and heart rehabilitation programs at UMPGHC while bringing into sharper focus the impact of cardiovascular disparities within Prince George's County.
