Prince George's Athletics Unveils Gold Jerseys For 50th Anniversary Celebration

LARGO, Md . – During the Prince George's Community College Athletics 50th Anniversary year-long celebration, the department will salute its heritage with two former uniform staples. These jerseys were unveiled on Friday night during the Owls men's soccer match against Cecil College.

This commemorative jersey is gold with Carolina blue accent color with the letters PGCC across the chest. When Prince George's intercollegiate athletics started one of the uniform colors used was gold with simply the letters PGCC. In addition, gold is also the color used to signify 50 years.

In recent years, Prince George's has gone away from the color gold and the use of PGCC, switching to navy and Carolina blue for colors and Prince George's or Owls has replaced PGCC.

The men's soccer team will now wear the gold games at future contests, including September 29 against Frederick Community College.

Men's and women's basketball will debut their gold uniforms for the Wednesday, December 6 doubleheader against CCBC Catonsville. The Owls women's basketball team will tip off at 5 p.m. and the men will follow at 7 p.m.

Baseball will show off gold uniforms for the first time in a doubleheader against the College of Southern Maryland. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
