CCBC Essex Downs Prince George's Men's Soccer, 5-2

ROSEDALE, Md. – CCBC Essex defeated Prince George's Community College 5-2 in Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) men's soccer action on Friday.

Roshawn Panton (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) notched his third goal of the season along with his first career assist to pace the Owls (2-0-1, 1-1-0 MD JUCO) in the match. Panton has posted all three tallies in final 15 minutes of a match. Celio Grice (Riverdale, Md./Parkdale) notched his first goal of the season and second of his career in the second half. Jonathan Claros (Adelphi, Md./High Point) turned away three shots in the loss.

Trailing 5-0, the Owls got on the scoreboard when Panton found Grice at 75:49. Less than four minutes later, Panton cut the margin to 5-2 with his third tally of the year at 79:40.

Jake Dengler paced the Knights (2-1-0, 1-0-0 MD JUCO) with two goals and one assist while Edwin Navas posted a tally and a helper, and Carlos Guzman and Logan Funk also found the twine in the winning effort.

CCBC Essex jumped out to the early lead and never looked back to earn the victory.

The Knights wasted little time getting the scoring started after finding the twine at the 4:55 mark thanks to a Dengler connection to Navas.

After Guzman-Hernandez found the twine at 22:34, Navas setup CCBC Essex's third tally of the night with a feed to Funk at the 42:36 mark.

The Knights then added a pair of markers in the second half in a span of 96 seconds after Dengler posted consecutive goals at 52:07 and 53:43.

The Largo program registered two goals in the final 15 minutes, but CCBC Essex came away with the victory.
