Men's Soccer Advances to Region XX DIII Semis

Largo, Md. - The third-seeded Prince George's men's soccer team advanced to the Region XX Semifinals with a 4-1 win over No. 6 Allegany College of Maryland on Thursday. This sets up the rematch with Anne Arundel Community College, a team the Owls lost to earlier in the season.

Ramario Chapman and Mecardo Knight were the top scorers for the Owls early into the first half. Chapman headed home the first goal from a corner kick that was played in by Knight with only 13 minutes played. The roles were reversed in the 22nd minute, when Knight locked on to and converted his first of the game from a diagonal pass played in by Chapman. Adetumji Temitope added the third goal from a Kevin Chavez free kick to end the half with the 3-0 lead.

Allegany came into the second half showing some resilience but it was Knight who added is second of the game to finalize the Owls scoring in the 58th minute. Owls goalkeeper Richard Lewis III made 9 saves on the day and gave up the lone goal for Allegany on a penalty kick by Zach Steckman in the 70th minute.

The Semi-finals and Finals for the Region XX DIII Tournament are set to be played at Anne Arundel Community College on Friday, October 31, 2014. Montgomery will play Howard and Anne Arundel will host the Owls. Kickoff is set 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM respectively.
