The Owls men’s soccer team moved to 2-1 after the weekend

The Owls men's soccer team moved to 2-1 after the weekend, with back to back wins over Brookdale and Tompkins Cortland Community College. They earned their first win of the season with a 2-0 decisive victory over Brookdale, and then defeated the 7th ranked team, Tompkins Cortland 1-0 on Sunday.

Freshman Jose Pacheco and sophomore Ramario Chapman were able to get their first goals of the season on Saturday. Both goals were scored in the second half, as Pacheco found the net with only a minute played. Chapman's goal was the final of the game as he was able to push the lead to 2-0 in the 69th minute.

"It felt great to get that first win," said Ramario Chapman, sophomore midfielder. "We didn't play to our full potential the first game and we wanted to have a good showing this weekend, so I think getting that win was important for our confidence as a whole."

Sunday afternoon's game against the host school proved to have a little more flare for the theatrics, as the Owls battled to score the only goal of the game to eventually earn the win. The Owls men were able to showcase their dominance in the attack and ended the game with a 14-6 shots taken advantage. Elihu Dorbi was the beneficiary of the lone goal in Sundays game, after a decisive pass from Adam Matthews gave him a clear shot on goal which he converted in the 82nd minute.

The games for the East Coast Cup were played at Tompkins Cortland Community College. Although Sunday's game was played in the rain, it was a great overall atmosphere for fans and players alike. Christopher Lampkins, freshman goalkeeper, continued his impressive play, as he stopped two shots and was credited with his second career complete game shut-out.

The Owls will put their brief two-game winning streak on the line when they face Anne Arundel Community College on Friday, September 6. This will be the team's home opener. Kickoff is set for 6PM.
