Bio
James Watkins goes into his fifth year as assistant coach at Prince George's Community College with head coach Xavier Joyner. Watkins previously assisted Joyner at Montgomery College Germantown for five years. He assists Coach Xavier Joyner in the day to day running of the program. As an assistant coach, Watkins is responsible for working with the big men, scout team, practice, and game management.
Prior to coaching with Coach Joyner, Watkins spent two years as an assistant coach at Theodore Roosevelt High School where he helped provide opportunities for all athletes to be successful both on and off the court. In addition to his collegiate experience, he has also coached several youth AAU teams, before branching out and starting his own.
A native of Prince George's County, he attended Crossland High School and after graduating played basketball at Moberly Area Community College. After two years at Moberly he went on to play for Husson University in Bangor, Maine where he was a two year co-captain.
